Hi Helen, my name is Brian Camplin from Kaitaia. We have spoken several times in the past. Over the past 35 years, on a semi-commercial/hobby basis, I build about 15-20 surfboards per year, and as such, have purchased a number of Stash-It covers (10-15 odd) over the years.
Im amazed how they have held up. Even the first one purchased ,( I cant remember how long ago, must be very roughly 12-15 yrs(?) ,anyway, not long after you started producing commercially, is still in commission after being manhandled, near daily, thru air cargo , on roof racks and in the back of utes , lying around in the sun, sand and rocks, for hours at a time, slept upon, etc etc ,and generally given a hard time, not one zip has crapped out. Unheard of! ..and no stitching has come undone.
I think that the real indicator of the workmanship must be that even on the first ever cover I got, the silver coloured ,polyethylene(?) type of woven sort of fabric is starting to break down with age, and it lets out a fine blue powder somehow. but despite this, like I said, the zip and stitching is still intact., as is still the case with all the covers purchased subsequently. Quite amazing in my eyes.
So Im looking forward to coming back and purchasing more covers when I need to, but presently , who knows when that might be as all the covers re still intact.. Maybe your quality product is costing you business, but I wouldnt like to think so. Maybe you need to build in "planned obsolescense" like the Japs do with vehicles.
Its nice to know that I live in an age where such core values are still present in manufacturing , so thanks for that and I hope to be a return customer, but who knows when ,with good product like Stash-It that keeps on keeping on . regards! brian c see more...
